The government modified the way food stamp benefits are distributed to recipients in 2002 by switching to the electronic benefits transfer (EBT) method. Food stamp recipients receive a card, issued by J.P. Morgan bank, which gets re-loaded each month. After you make a purchase with your card, the remaining balance is listed at the bottom of your receipt. If you lose your receipt or want to check the balance on your card without making a purchase, you can do so online or by calling the EBT hot line.
Go to the JPMorganChase EBT Account Login site.
Press "Click Here to Register" to create a new account.
Enter your 16-digit card number and PIN number. Click "Continue."
Enter a unique user name and password you can use to log in to the site without needing to enter your long card number. Click "Continue" to view your EBT account balance.
Call the EBT hot line at 866-352-5878.
Press "1" for English or "2" for Spanish.
Enter your 16-digit card number to hear your cash and food stamp benefit balances.
