Items you will need

  • Internet access
  • Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN)
  • Sender's full name

Western Union provides a safe and easy way to transfer and delivery funds internationally to family, friends and clients across the globe. In order to track your Western Union money order, you need the Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) and sender's full name. So if you are not sure if your status is, "Money sent," "Money ready for pick-up" or "Money received," you can use the Western Union website to expedite the tracking process.

Step 1

Request the Money Transfer Control Number from your sender. If you do not know your sender's name, find out that information as well. The MTCN should be listed on the receipt given to the sender at the time of the money transfer.

Step 2

Log onto the Western Union website (see Resources).

Step 3

Enter the MTCN and sender's first and last name into the form on the right side of the website under "Track Money Transfer."
