There are many reasons for sending money to the UK; you may have a relative or friend that needs money or you could be paying for a purchase overseas. Whatever your reasons are, there are several options for sending money to the UK, but two of the cheapest, easiest methods are Paypal and Western Union. To send money via Paypal, you will need the recipient's email address or mobile telephone number; to send via Western Union, you will need their full name and the city and country in which they are located. Whichever method you choose, sending money can be done in just a few simple steps.

Sending Money through Paypal

Create a Paypal account. You will need a valid email address and bank account or credit card for this.

Verify your Paypal account. Paypal will make two small deposits into your bank account. When this happens, you have to report the amounts of the deposits to Paypal using their verification form which is provided to you online.

Get the email address or mobile telephone number of the recipient in the UK. This is the only information you need to send them money via Paypal.

Log in to your Paypal account and transfer the funds to the recipient. You will find the form to do this under the "Send Money" tab. Make sure to use the GBP - British Pounds setting when selecting currency.

Sending Money through Western Union

Find a Western Union Agent near you using the Agent Locator on the Western Union website.

Visit your local Western Union agent and complete the Send Money form in full. You will need the recipient's full name and the city and country in which they are located.

Verify your identity. You will need to present photo identification to the agent. In some cases, you may need to provide two forms of identification.

Pay for the transaction. You will need to pay the amount you wish to send plus Western Union's transaction fee.

Take your receipt and note your Money Transfer Control Number. Share this number with the recipient so they can easily collect their funds.
