Items you will need
- Telephone or email access
- Esurance policy number
Esurance is one of many providers from which users can obtain vehicle insurance. There may come a time when you decide that you no longer need Esurance coverage because you sold your car or are relocating. Familiarize yourself with the procedure for canceling Esurance; under certain circumstances you may not have to pay cancellation fees.
Contact the Esurance Customer Service department. Explain to the representative that you would like to cancel your policy. The representative will guide you through the procedure for issues such as cancellation fees and refunds for unused premiums.
Arrange for payment of any cancellation fees.
Contact Esurance by email or phone if you wish to cancel your policy as a result of being deployed by the military. Provide your name, policy number, and the date you wish for the coverage to end. Be sure to indicate that you are canceling your policy due to an upcoming deployment. As a result, Esurance may waive the standard cancellation fees. If communicating by email, a follow-up call with a Customer Service representative may be necessary.
You may wish to buy new coverage from Esurance once you return from deployment. If so, obtain a letter from your commanding officer that explains that you were deployed by the military, provides the dates that you served and states that you did not drive any civilian vehicles during this time period. Doing so will exempt you from penalties you may have otherwise incurred.
