How to Buy Stock in Tracfone

Tracfone is a prepaid wireless company. According to its website, Tracfone is the largest prepaid cell phone provider in the United States with over 12 million subscribers as of December 2009. Tracfone was founded in 1996 by parent company América Móvil. Tracfone stock is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol AMX and on Nasdaq under the symbol AMOV. Anyone with a trading account can buy stock in Tracfone.

Step 1

Sign up for an online trading account. Social security number, date of birth and address are needed to create the account.

Step 2

Add money to your trading account by linking it with your checking account. The routing number and the checking account number must be input to link the accounts.

Step 3

Buy the Tracfone stock by going to the trading section of the online trading account. Select “Buy” as the trading action and enter in the number of shares and the stock symbol.

Step 4

Preview the order before submitting it. Once the purchase of Tracfone stock has been executed, an e-mail confirmation will be sent to the e-mail address on record with the online trading account.

Tips

  • Stock buys can only happen during trading hours, which are weekdays from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. If you don't want to buy stock online, you can have a stock broker buy the stock for you.
