The grace period on a car loan is the time between your due date and the point at which the lender actually treats your payment as late. Grace periods vary, but 10 days is standard, according to Autos.com. This grace period means that you have 10 days from your due date to get your payment in to avoid late fees.
When Grace Ends
If your bank receives your payment nine days after it's due, you still face no consequences with a 10-day grace period. Typically, between the 11th day and 30th day after the due date, you get a late fee. When your payment becomes more than 30 days overdue, you should expect the lender to report your late payment to credit reporting bureaus.
