The Multiple Listing Service, or MLS, is a real estate database that contains information about properties offered for sale. A MLS number is a unique six-digit identification number assigned to each house in the MLS database. The MLS number allows you to quickly search or inquire for a particular property in any local real estate agency or database as well as in other sources such as newspapers. Use the official website of the National Association of Realtors to get the MLS identifier for a particular property.
Navigate to realtor.com using any web browser on your computer.
Enter the address of the property or as much information on the property as possible before clicking on Search. .
Click on the property link on the search results page to reveal listing details.
Read the MLS number, or MLS ID, given in the section "Listing Details" just above the location map on the webpage.
