Scholarships for Scoliosis

There are many available scholarships for students with disabilities including mental illness scholarships and scoliosis scholarships. Thanks to the generosity of schools, public and private institutions, nonprofit organizations, charitable funds and local and state governments; finding a way to pay for school is now easier than ever. Applicants will find a wide array of awards to choose from. Some are for particular areas of study, different life situations or affiliations; some are merit-based, for those that demonstrate academic excellence; and some are need-based for those students that demonstrate financial need.

Sonoran Spine Foundation Scholarships

The Sonoran Spine Foundation scoliosis scholarships are offered to students in Arizona by the Sonoran Spine Education and Research Foundation. Applicants must provide medical documentation of their diagnosed spinal deformity or related surgery; must be attending either Arizona State University, North Arizona University or University of Arizona; must be Arizona residents; and must also be involved in their communities. The award amount is approximately $1,000.

SRS Educational Scoliosis Scholarships

The Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) Educational Scholarship is offered to qualified orthopaedic or neurosurgeons under the age of 45 from around the globe to help them attend the Scoliosis Research Society Annual Meeting. Qualified applicants must demonstrate financial need, represent a developing nation, be involved in research or care of patients with scoliosis and possess a university-level degree. Awardees must also attend either the IMAST or SRS Annual meeting and course. The award amount includes full travel and lodging expenses up to $2,500 plus a waiver of the meeting registration fee.

Ethel Louise Armstrong Foundation Scholarship

The Ethel Louise Armstrong Foundation Foundation, Inc. (ELA) offers scholarships for students with disabilities that fall under the qualifications of being a deserving, physically disabled female student by the Ethel Louise Armstrong Foundation. To qualify, you must be pursuing your graduate degree, have a medically documented physical disability such as scoliosis, be academically successful and demonstrate financial hardship. Awards are given on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis based on academic and leadership merit assessments. The award amount is generally between $1,000 and $2,000. Scholarships are between $1,000 and $2,000 and are awarded in August.
