Outside of awards granted to incoming college freshman, foundations offer a wide range of scholarships. Scholarships for high school students are the most common programs that designate awards by grade levels. Consult with your guidance counselor or use web resources to find scholarship programs that target high school students.
Key Club International Scholarship Program
High school student Key Club members are eligible to apply for a Key Club International Scholarship. You must be a member in good standing for a minimum of two years and have your name appear on the Key Club International roster. The roster is a list of all members who pay their dues by the deadline each year. The Key Club scholarship is only available to high school seniors.
Dell Scholars Program
The Dell Scholars Program targets high school students with a demonstrated financial need. To qualify for the Dell Scholars program, students must be enrolled in an approved AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program in their high schools. The award amount for each Dell Scholar is $20,000. Each year, 250 awards are given to college-bound high school students.

AFSA High School Essay Contest
Participate in the AFSA High School Essay Contest for a chance to win a trip to Washington, D.C., and a $2,500 scholarship. The winner’s school is awarded $500. The essay contest is administered by the American Foreign Service Association. You must submit an essay on the topic assigned for the year in which you are applying. A teacher from your school must sign the registration form for your essay before submission. Applications postmarked after the April 15th deadline are automatically disqualified.
Best Buy @15 Scholarship
Best Buy awards $1,200 one-time scholarships to 1,000 high school students grades nine through twelve each year. To apply, a student must have demonstrated leadership skills, excel academically and have community service experience. Scholarship awards are not renewable.
