Texas Military Institute, located in San Antonio, Texas, has a long history steeped in tradition beginning in 1893. Run by the Episcopal Schools of Texas, the institute prides itself on its long-standing military tradition. One hundred percent of its student body goes on to study at an institution of higher learning. Students from low-income families have the opportunity to apply for financial aid and scholarships. Financial aid is awarded on an as-needed basis as the school takes into consideration student's financial needs. It is important to get financial aid applications in early as aid is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. The school educates both young men and women in grades 6 through 12.

New York Military Academy

The New York Military Academy was founded by Civil War veteran Charles Jefferson Wright in 1889 as a preparatory boarding school for young men. In 1975, the school first accepted young women. With its tradition of high academic and athletic achievement, famous alumni include Donald Trump, president and CEO of the Trump Organization, John W. Barnes, president of Barnes & Noble Inc., and composer Stephen Sondheim. Students from low-income families who wish to attend the New York Military Academy are eligible for financial aid upon acceptance. Students must meet all academic acceptance requirements.

Oak Ridge Military Academy

Located in North Carolina, the Oak Ridge Military Academy was first established in 1852 and is the second oldest military academy in the United States. The academy has a long history of academic excellence and athletic prowess. Graduates of the Oak Ridge Military Academy have been represented in every branch of the U.S. military and have fought in every war and military action since World War I. The academy has a 99 percent acceptance to colleges by its graduates annually. For students from low-income families, Oak Ridge Military Academy offers several payment options, scholarships, grants and financial aid.

The Citadel

Located in historical Charleston, South Carolina, The Citadel has a long-standing history as a military institution of higher learning. Established in 1842, The Citadel has a small undergraduate student body numbering close to 2,000. Students have the opportunity to student and earn bachelor's degrees in business, humanities, education, engineering, science and mathematics. Students from low-income families have several options for financial assistance at The Citadel. These options include financial aid, such as federal loans, grants and scholarships. The Citadel office of financial aid will assist interested students in getting the financial assistance they need to attend this military institution.
