Grants for Minority Women

The U.S. government and private organizations have established programs to offer money and advantages to minority women. There are business and educational grants, as well as programs to help minority women buy and own homes. Here are just a few of the grant programs that minority females can apply for.

MBE/WBE Status

Minority women who have established their businesses as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and/or Women's Business Enterprise (WBE) are eligible to be granted bids to complete jobs for and provide supplies to the U.S. government and large corporations.

Minority Business Development Agency

The Minority Business Development Agency (a federal agency) offers grants to minority women who meet certain criteria. For example, they may have to agree to open certain types of businesses in very specific locations.

United Negro College Fund

The United Negro College Fund (UNCF) offers education grants to disadvantaged African-American women.

Nursing Grants for Minority Women

The National Black Nurses Association and the March of Dimes both offer nursing education grants to black women.

Native American Women

If you are a Native American woman with a Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB) who has an interest in a career in the health industry, you may be eligible for a grant from the Indian Health Service.
