How to Buy Fidelity Stocks

by Ann Mapleridge ; Updated July 27, 2017

Fidelity is an investment company that works with stock trading, retirement accounts and other types of investments. Fidelity offers you access to the stock market and allows you to buy and sell stocks from any publicly traded company. To use Fidelity's services, you can either set up an account either online or with a Fidelity agent using your bank account and social security number. You can then select from Fidelity's monthly plans—each plan offering a certain number of trades per year. Once you are set up to use Fidelity to do your stock trading, there are a variety of different ways available for you to get involved with buying and selling stocks.

In Person

Step 1

Go to the Fidelity office in your area and make a purchase in person. Agents at local Fidelity branches can help you buy and sell the stocks you want while you're in their office.

Step 2

Call Fidelity and speak to an agent over the phone. The number 1-800-FIDELITY can help you set up a Fidelity account and make stock purchases.

Step 3

Log on to the Fidelity website to purchase and sell stocks online. The Fidelity website can let you look at your stock portfolio and make purchases while the stock market is open.

Step 4

Set up an automatic stock investment plan with Fidelity. An automatic investment plan can automatically buy stocks you select for you on a certain day of the week or month, or when the stock reaches a certain price.
